INTRODUCING DOT
DOTs for Life
Innovative Ceiling Solution
Introducing DOT – a new modular light and ceiling system that enhances well-being. The innovative product is developed by lighting consultants LIK Lighting, ceiling manufacturer DAMPA, designer Lars Vejen and product developer Erik Padkjaer Larsen.
DOT increases productivity and general well-being, with its humanistic design, making it the ideal choice for public and working environments. Building on decades of experience and expertise, we developed an acoustic ceiling system that spreads pleasant light in every room.
Inspired by Nature
For years, working and public environments have suffered from monotonous and uninspiring lighting. DOT is going to change that. By shedding a differentiated light and creating optimal acoustics, DOT has a positive impact on both human comfort and well-being.
Inspired by Nature
For years, working and public environments have suffered from monotonous and uninspiring lighting. DOT is going to change that. By shedding a differentiated light and creating optimal acoustics, DOT has a positive impact on both human comfort and well-being.
The design draws inspiration from one of the natural wonders: a starry sky. Like stars, lighting can be spread out across the ceiling, making a beautiful harmony of light and shadow in the room. The varying lighting stimulates the eye and contributes to a more pleasant environment to live, relax and work.
In keeping with nature’s way, it was only natural to make sure that DOT was produced sustainably. Thus, the ceiling system is produced in steel, making the solution durable, with a long lifespan. The steel also ensures that the solution can be recycled again and again not losing any mechanical properties. The light fixtures are made from recycled materials.
Lighting for Well-Being
Proper lighting is essential for well-being. This requires a balance between natural and artificial lighting. Achieving this improves well-being, mood, and productivity and reduces headache, eyestrain, and fatigue.
Lighting for Well-Being
Proper lighting is essential for well-being. This requires a balance between natural and artificial lighting. Achieving this improves well-being, mood, and productivity and reduces headache, eyestrain, and fatigue.
With DOT, we break with the traditional understanding of lighting. Rather than being evenly distributed, the lighting can be designed and directed to provide optimal lighting. DOT gives you the ability to control the lighting for better working environments, whether that is for individual working or meetings areas.
Using the best technology available, we have created lighting with a low glare yet high efficiency. The result is an impressive Unified Glaring Rating below 10, which truly sets DOT apart from the rest.
Optimal Acoustics Through an Aesthetic Ceiling Solution
DOT is an evolution of the well-known 60×60 light fixture. It uses the popular and patented DAMPA ceiling system, a solution that has been used and perfected for 70 years.
As well as lighting, optimal good acoustics are an essential part of our well-being. DOT is therefore developed in the patented DAMPA acoustic ceiling system. Every fixture and ceiling tile is made from steel making the ceiling surface uniform and aesthetic as e.g. integrations can be placed behind the ceiling surface, not disturbing the design of the ceiling.
By combining the seven alternating illuminated holes with the otherwise strict expression of DOT, an exciting ceiling design with interesting contrast is obtained – and this with integrated well-being through lights and acoustics.
DOT dampens sound and creates an optimal acoustic environment thanks to the acoustic properties of the metal ceiling tiles. The acoustic properties are achieved through perforation patterns combined with an acoustic felt. The acoustic felt is as standard provided in black or white, and can be used in the final design to create a calm and uniform ceiling surface or to create contrast between the white ceiling and the DOT-perforations.

DOT in action at Autocentralen
Recently, DAMPA, Erik Padkjær, Lars Vejen and LIK Lighting finished a pilot project at Danish car dealer Autocentralen’s showroom in Jutland. Here, the DOT system proved its value as a vital element in an enhanced customer experience.
In regards to aesthetics, DOT has contributed to a more discrete expression. As the ceiling and the lighting fixtures blends into one, eyes gravitate towards the illuminated cars. And thanks to the greatly reduced glare, visitors and employees can enjoy a more relaxing showroom experience.
As Autocentralen already used DAMPA’s ceiling system, the installation of DOT went smoothly and blends in nicely with the rest of the building.
A Team Effort
DOT was indeed the result of great and passionate minds working together. The innovative solution is a collaboration between lighting consultants LIK Lighting, acoustic ceiling manufacturer DAMPA, architect and designer Lars Vejen and product developer Erik Padkjær Larsen.
What began as a lighting fixture evolved into a complete modular ceiling system by feeding off each other’s ideas. By combining expertise, we were able to create the best holistic solution. And more ideas are in the works adding even more functionalities to DOT.
